Varfell Farm in Cornwall is the home of the National Collection of Dahlias. Situated in a practically frost free area set against the backdrop of St Michael's mount the display garden is left in the ground through the winter covered with a mulch from late November.

Mark Twyning has been working with the Dahlia Collection since it came to Varfell Farm in Autumn 1998. Mark developed AND bred the 'Twyning' range of Dahlias at Varfell and is responsible for the day to day care, attention and management of The Collection.

Michael Mann - Operations Director, Following fifteen years experience in managing large scale farming operations Mike joined Winchester Growers in 1986 as production manager. He was made director in 1988. Mike is responsible for operations of all Winchester Growers sites. He is a serving member of the HDC Protected Crops Panel.

Lorraine Anthony was very much a 'back room girl' based at the nursery at Penzance but has more recently become actively involved with manning our display stands at shows and enjoys interacting with the customers. She also looks after the growing of the commercial cut flowers at the nursery.

Jon Wheatley has a wide range of horticultural knowledge and is a member of the Executive Council of the National Dahlia Society. He works with us, on a consultative basis, in the Collection and his show experience is invaluable.
